Custom woven patches are made on a loom with threads a fraction of the thickness used in embroidery. Instead of stitching thread on top of a fabric base, the threads are the fabric, woven tightly together into your design, like a miniature tapestry of your artwork.
Those ultra-thin threads are what make woven patches special: small text stays legible, thin lines stay thin, and gradients and detailed logos reproduce with a precision that stitched thread physically can't match. The surface comes out smooth and flat, with a cleaner, more refined look than the raised texture of an embroidered patch.
Our customers order custom woven patches for apparel brand labels, scout and camp badges, commemorative event patches, uniform emblems with fine lettering, and any design where the details matter. Up to 7 thread colors are included free, in any custom shape.
Woven patches start at 100 pieces and typically ship in 14 business days, though production time varies with your design and quantity, and priority air shipping to the US is free. Want a bolder, dimensional look instead? Compare 100% embroidery, or go rugged with waterproof PVC patches.
Every custom woven patch is built thread by thread on a precision loom, in a five-step process tuned for detail.
Our art team converts your logo into a weave map, a thread-by-thread plan that preserves every fine line and letter in the design.
Up to 7 thread colors (included free) are matched to your brand colors before the loom is threaded.
Ultra-thin threads are woven tightly together into your design, so the image is the fabric itself, not stitching on top of it.
The patch is cut to shape and finished with your choice of border: a wrapped merrow edge or a clean hot-cut edge for intricate outlines.
Your chosen backing (iron-on, hook-and-loop, adhesive, or sew-on) is applied, and every patch is inspected before it ships free to your door.

Up close, you can see what makes a woven patch different: the individual threads are so thin they read almost like print. Facial features, outlines just a hair wide, and lettering smaller than a quarter inch all stay clean and legible.
Embroidery builds a design out of raised stitches, which looks fantastic for bold shapes, but every element has to be at least a stitch wide, so thin lines and small lettering start to blur together. Weaving builds the design into the cloth itself, so there's no minimum stitch width putting a floor on your detail.
If your artwork has small text, thin script, tiny logos, or shading, woven is almost always the right patch. Send us the art and we'll confirm it in your free proof, with unlimited revisions until it's perfect.

What are custom woven patches?
Answer
Custom woven patches are made on a loom with ultra-thin threads that are woven tightly together into your design, so the image is the fabric itself, not stitching on top of it. That produces a smooth, flat patch that captures small text, thin lines, and detailed logos far better than standard embroidery.
What is the difference between woven and embroidered patches?
Answer
Both are thread, but embroidered patches use thicker thread stitched onto a base, creating a raised, textured surface that suits bold designs. Woven patches use threads a fraction of that thickness, so fine detail and lettering stay crisp and the surface stays smooth and lightweight. If your logo has small text or intricate detail, go woven.
What is the minimum order for woven patches?
Answer
Woven patches start at 100 pieces, in sizes from 1.5" to 7". Production takes 14 business days but will vary with your design and quantity. Every order includes free artwork with unlimited revisions, up to 7 thread colors at no extra charge, and free priority air shipping to the US.
What backing and border options do woven patches have?
Answer
Borders come in two styles: a wrapped merrow edge for that classic patch outline, or a hot-cut edge for intricate custom shapes. For backing, choose iron-on heat seal, hook-and-loop, peel-and-stick adhesive, or a plain sew-on back.
What are popular uses for woven patches?
Answer
Woven patches are the go-to for scout and camp badges, apparel brand labels, commemorative event patches, and uniform emblems with fine lettering. Anywhere a design packs a lot of detail into a small patch, woven threads keep it legible and sharp.

Wherever a design has fine detail to protect, woven patches shine. Here's where our customers use them most.
Event patches, camp badges, and troop emblems are woven classics: scenic artwork, small lettering, and year dates all stay crisp at badge size. Scouts collect them, trade them, and sew them onto vests and blankets for decades.
Browse Scouting Patches arrow_forwardApparel brands use woven patches as sewn-on labels and merch accents because thin threads reproduce wordmarks exactly. Clubs and organizations get seals, crests, and mottos (detail-heavy designs by nature) without losing a letter.
Browse Organization Patches arrow_forwardDepartment names, unit numbers, and certification text need to be readable at a glance, which is exactly what woven threads do best. The smooth, low-profile surface also sits flatter on uniform sleeves than a thick embroidered patch.
