Search and rescue (SAR) teams aid people who are in distress or imminent danger. There are a number of different specialty sub-fields which cover different types of terrain. For example, there are mountain rescue teams, ground search and rescue teams, urban search and rescue teams, combat search and rescue teams, and air-sea rescue teams.

The Connecticut Canine Search and Rescue Team’s Unique Concept

The Connecticut Canine Search and Rescue wanted to include an image of some of its most useful and loyal workers, the search dogs. Whether in thick wooded brush or along river banks, these dogs have endured many hours of highly specialized training in order to help save those in need. Because the group is also proud of their home state of Connecticut, they wanted to make sure we included the outline of their state in their custom challenge coin design.

Challenge Coins Based on Embroidered Patches

The shape of the coin was based on the patches that they wear on their uniforms. Search and rescue coins can easily identify what type of rescue team the owner of the coin is from whether it be land, sea or urban. We often base our designs off of customer suggestions. If you have a product like an embroidered patch that you want us to use as inspiration, let us know. We’ll be happy to create artwork with you based on your suggestions.

A unique aspect of this coin is that the front side was color filled and the back was left as gold plating only. This makes the double sided coin unique and memorable. Details like these add to the visual appeal of a coin and make the perceived value higher. There are a number of different things you can include in your coin’s design.
