What is the Firefighters Kid Camp?
There is nothing in the world more satisfying than knowing that you’ve made a positive impact in the life of a child. Each year dozens of volunteers at Firefighters Kids Camp do just that. They make a difference. Firefighters, nurses, burn survivors, medical professionals and civilians staff this one-week summer camp program for burn-injured children ages seven to seventeen. It’s a place where kids can be “just like everyone else.” There are no stares, no social avoidance and no awkward interactions; just fun, friendship, understanding and encouragement in a safe and caring environment.
Custom Challenge Coins Made to Look Like Currency
Each participant of the week-long camp was presented with the custom challenge coin you see here. A classic round shape was used which kids like because it makes the coins feel like currency. Tall evergreens add a pop of green one side of the coin and the universal symbol for firefighters, the Maltese cross, is on the other side.
Custom Challenge Coins Are Easy to Transport and Turn Into Medals
The 1.5” coin you see here is the same size as a half dollar. Easy to transport and keep in your pocket, this is a very popular size coin. We could have easily made these into medals by adding a loop at the top and attaching a 1.5” ribbon. Medals are great for handing out for special accomplishments or placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in a particular event.

The Firefighters Burn Institute participates in local burn care and also plays an active role on a national level with the Federal Institute of Burn Foundations and the American Burn Association. Founded in 1973 after a plane crash killed Sacramento firefighter, Gene LaVine, and eight members of his family, the institute helps burn victims receive the care and support that they need.
