Boys State Challenge Coins Bring Back Memories
American Legion Boys State is a program that teaches young people how government works while developing leadership skills and cultivating an appreciation for their rights as a U.S. citizen. Participants learn how to run for office, speak in front of an audience, create and enforce laws, and actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government. The young men who take part in the program build confidence and friendships with other participants around the world.
At the state level, the American Legion is organized into "departments", which run annual civic training events for high school juniors called Boys State. Two members from each Boys State are selected for Boys Nation. The custom challenge coin you see pictured here was to be given to all the boys that attended Boys State.
Custom Challenge Coins Are Versatile and Long Lasting
With so many events held yearly, the American Legion has many different chances to hand out custom coins. These items make perfect keepsakes because they are able to display a multitude of information about the event that was attended as well as images. Other less substantial keepsakes are easily lost or discarded but because our coins are thick and solid, one will want to keep his or her custom coin forever.

It was founded to benefit those veterans who served during a wartime period as defined by the United States Congress.
