This blog is going to reveal another trick that we use when helping to design trading pins for softball and baseball players from across the country. The technique is called Diamond plate. You see diamond plate all around and probably don’t even realize it. You see it on stair treads, tool boxes, and pickup truck bed liners.
This rugged looking metal finish screams durability and toughness and adding it to your trading pin this year will instantly increase the value of your pin. This technique does not cost you more but the perceived value skyrockets because of the coolness factor. Also, you won’t see a lot of other pins with this technique so it makes your pins more unique. At the end of the day, the more unique your pins, the faster and easier you can trade them.
The pin you see here also has an antique silver finish that adds to the look of the pin. All of the recessed areas get a light antique finish which allows the raised areas to really stand out. Details like these add to the attractiveness of custom trading pins.
One other design trick that was used for this pin was the font choice. We can use just about any font that is out there. However, our customer wanted a tough, mean looking font to accompany the skull so we chose an old English style font. Small details like font choice make all the difference when it comes down to tradability.
