Churches Are Using Lanyards As a Way to Identify Approved Volunteers

Churches have been using lanyards as a means of identifying its members for years.  They are often times used to differentiate between staff, clergy, and members of the congregation.  We just worked with a church that needed their lanyards to do more than just identify members.  They wanted these special items to signify which people were approved to work with the children and youth of the church. As volunteers and staff complete specified training, they are given the appropriate lanyard.  This helps clearly identify the worker as someone who should be working with the kids.  Small details like changing the color of a regular church lanyard to green lets kids and other adults know that they are dealing with a safe and qualified volunteer.  This type of item is particularly useful in large church environments where there are thousands of members and hundreds of workers.

Things That Can Be Included On a Custom Designed Lanyard There are a number of different things that can be included on your custom designed lanyard.  One of them, of course, is your church’s name.  You can also include its logo or emblem.  A motto or Bible verse can accompany the text.  If you want others to get to know you in the community, your lanyards can include a URL or email address.

You can also include specific words or phrases like “Certified Youth Volunteer”.  This helps make it easier for others to know who you trust within a large group or organization.  In addition to being a member of the congregation, volunteers are also given the authority to work with children.
