What Is An Epoxy Dome and How Does It Benefit the Lapel Pins or Challenge Coins That I Order?

Customers that are not familiar with the term “epoxy dome” often ask us to describe what it looks like and how it will benefit their order of custom lapel pins or challenge coins.  We make it easy to explain by stating that, “An epoxy dome is a clear coating placed on the top of a lapel pin or challenge coin.”  In some instances, it is needed to protect an image on the pin or coin.  This is often the case with offset printed images.  Other times, a clear coating is added to traditional soft enamel lapel pins and challenge coins as a preference or a way to add aesthetic value.  People like epoxy domes because they are very durable and smooth to the touch.

Although an epoxy dome can be added to most styles of lapel pins and challenge coins, it is not recommended for cloisonné pins or coins.  Cloisonné lapel pins are already smooth to the touch and have a high polished jewelry finish.

Here are some reasons why epoxy domes are ideal even though they are optional:

  • They protect the image from being scratched or damaged. This is especially true on offset printed lapel pins and challenge coins.  The clear coating adds a layer of protection over the image.
  • They add value to a product by enhancing its appearance. Some lapel pins and challenge coins look better with an epoxy dome.  People believe that these items are more valuable than others because of their smooth finish.

Epoxy dome is a type of add-on that really makes a difference.  To learn more about it, visit https://lapelpinsplus.com/, email info@lapelpinsplus.com or call 1-800-252-0904.
