Antique Challenge Coins: Giving Coins an Older, Classic Look

There are few, if any, limitations on how you can design your custom challenge coin.  The complexity or purpose of your challenge coin design might require extra details to achieve a desired effect. One of these extras is the option of coin antiquing.

Challenge coin collectors sometimes want their coins to appear older than they actually are.  Challenge Coins Plus is pleased to tell our customers that we have a sure-fire way to make challenge coins look old and worn.

An Aged Look Without the Wait To rapidly increase the visible age of a challenge coin, we offer antique finishing. Antiquing is a method that requires us to apply a wash directly onto the coin’s surface. Once the wash has settled into the recessed areas of the coin, it causes the areas to appear darker. These darker sections make text and fine details really stand out.

Essentially, the antique wash dulls the finish of coin. The raised areas of the coin design are left with a matte finish once the wash is removed. With an antique finish you are not able to achieve a high polished look.

Challenge Coins Plus offers antique gold, silver, and copper options.  In addition to making your coin appear older, we can also:

·         Create 3D images

·          Incorporate Dual Plating

·         Add Offset Printed Images or Photographs

·          Make Cut-outs

·          Include an Epoxy Dome
